Italian term

assicelle

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Textiles / Clothing / Fashion Textile machinery
assicelle per ratiere

I don't have much context, this is a product made of plastic included in a list of products supplied by a company. As far as I know ratiera is a dobby loom and the assicelle will be a part of the loom. Can anyone tell me the correct term for them please.

Discussion

Hilary Bruce (asker) Oct 8, 2012:
I opted for a different translation, comber boards, which I found in an IT-EN web site http://www.sarepadiglioni.it/Prodotti.php. I did ask the client to check the term and refer back to me if it was incorrect, so if I get any further information I will post it here. Thank you Howard, Ilaria and Carly for your help.

Proposed translations

15 mins

lath or lathe

The lath (or sometimes lathe) was initially a small plank or shingle.
Example sentence:

What were called the "swords" (claidim), or weaving-rods, were long laths used during the process of weaving, which were nearly or altogether as long as the beam

At Kahun a long straight lath, Fig. 20, was found which is probably a laze rod, the notches being apparently for a nooze to slip into and so prevent the rod working towards the weaver which it has a tendency to do.

the parts that draw the weft yarn through the warp yarn.
Just a guess, really

boards / battens / laths

the term probably refers to the boards / battens that are part of the loom frame.
