I had thought of "picking at" when I first saw your question as it seemed spiluccante was describing the action of the grape eater but now you have provided the context it seems that spiluccante is used as an adjective and therefore describes the grapes themselves.
To me the Italian from "spiluccare" suggests the grapes are appetising, moreish, to be eaten individually, picked at- one after the other, hence my suggestion.

And who can say that this is not how the Etruscans represented death to themselves: as a silent town, as flutes played in a vacuum, as tantalising grapes; an exclusively visual world, then, unsupported by any sense of taste, smell or touch.

The last few days have passed by in a blur of forested hills, medieval towns and rows and rows of plump tantalising grapes. The towns towards the east have been dedicated to wine and are full of small wine producers.
