Invece io suggerirei forse la seguente fraseologia:

"S/he adopted a hostile posture, typical of people who are insecure and socially indifferent (oppure 'apathetic')."

Io non ci userei una traduzione in "intolerant," perché l'aggettivo "indifferent" mi significa che una persona non si occupa di qualcun altro o di qualcosa affatto, in un senso o l'altro, anziché essa ne è intollerante..

Un'altra proposta. Cmq opterei per intolerant perché rende l'idea di qualcuno che "mal sopporta" qualcosa, che è poi il senso di insofferente.
