: Yes -- the second one is not "more correct" but the only correct option you give. "A pile of Mikado sticks" or (US) "a pile of pick-up sticks". "Jumble" is also OK.

maybe, but the Italian source says "mazzo" - IMHO the translator should not speculate about what might (or might not) be meant, but stick as closely as possible to what is in fact said. If there is ambiguity in the source, the ambiguity should remain.

: sorry but mah jong has nothing to share with shangai! nothing! and shangai is made of real sticks not of (even long) tiles. R.of course I have already seen your links, they just show that you don't know the 'gioco dello shangai' or, in English, Mikado

I don't really care. I made a suggestion and you made yours.End of story. But it would be pretty ridiculous and meaningless in English to say "a Mikado jumble" since "Mikado" in English has completely different connotations.
