I've also seen a slightly more specific "lending" in place of funding, since that's the vast majority of a bank's "impieghi", but I would think the "-ing" form (i.e. funding) is better than just "funds" because the latter doesn't provide any indication of what type of funds we're talking about, whereas using the "-ing" form indicates the action of funding/lending that the bank performs.

(I'm afraid I'm not the expert on the specifics of bank accounting that I'd like to be, so I don't feel I can rate my confidence as anything other than medium. I hope someone else can confirm or refute my suggestions.)
