Italian term

a soggetto

Italian to English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama Radio announcement
A soggetto, si comunica che le forze della V Armata sono nei pressi di Velletri.

This is a radio announcement by the Allies to their own channels during WWII. What is the correct translation of "a soggetto" in radio jargon?

Discussion

hsaxton (asker) Jun 15, 2009:
It's a screenplay and this is the dialogue. The line preceding this one merely states "a technician is listening to the radio in the Vatican radio station". Then there is the dialogue by "A VOICE ON THE RADIO" which then says, "A soggetto,..." Immediately after the text reads, "the announcement is accompanied by shouts of joy".
Shera Lyn Parpia Jun 15, 2009:
Context Can you give us more context, such as the line preceding this one?

Dialogue / Ad Lib

What it basically means is that the dialogue for this part "si comunica che le forze della V Armata sono nei pressi di Velletri..." has not been written and will need to be improvised on the set or later on when recording the audio track insert in post production.

Note from asker:
Sorry, but this is not correct at all. This IS the dialogue. And IT HAS been written.

This just in

I've heard recordings of old-time radio broadcasts that begin with "This just in:".

"This just in! Hog and Pig Report...down 2%...the U.S. swine industry continued on its course of retraction in the last months of the year. Swine inventories in nearly all..."
Peer comment(s):

disagree philgoddard : No, there is no implication that the news has been received just a moment ago

The line, "the announcement is accompanied by shouts of joy" indicates that the information is new, at least to the listeners.

Meanwhile/in other news

It just means "on a related topic".
