BdiL Nov 8, 2011:
Preference As phagocytose (verb) is a back formation, which Zareh Darakjian duly pointed out, I would prefer "phagocytized". This latter verb IMO stands out more clearly as a verb. However, I surmise that English would resort to rewording the whole sentence by centering it on a noun, here "phagocytosis". Thus: "A longer (or: more extended) circulation of the medicine is granted by such a process, which hinders liposome phagocytosis by the macrophages (or: macrophage complex). Maurizio

The medicine is inside the liposomes here. The liposomes are being protected against phagocytosis (swallowing) by the macrophages, thus, having their circulation time extended.
