Italian to English Other Agriculture landscaping

Fasce is bands and siepi, hedges, but how do you translate 'formale' in these two contexts?

It's from a text describing a lanscaped park that is integrated with the surrounding countryside, in Italy.
Two exampes of "formale" from the text:

1.-"La loro presenza è arricchita da un filare di Pyrus calleryana, a separazione tra l’ambito fruito dalla famiglia e quello destinato ai dipendenti, o di Malus floribunda ad ornamento del parcheggio, e dalle morbide graminacee ornamentali (Miscanthus sinensis, Deschampsia cespitosa, Melica ciliata) che creano onde di altezza crescente nella parte nord della proprietà, o ***fasce formali*** (Stipa tenuifolia) nella zona del parcheggio."

2.- "Il tutto completato da Rosa canina e Corylus avellana “Contorta”, da ***siepi formali*** di Ligustrum sinense e da rampicanti di Polygonum aubertii e Vitis aestivalis"

I have the idea that it means 'well-defined', 'bounded', delineated by its own geometrical shape (square or rectangular plot of land in which these plants grow).

Any ideas?
