the dictionary says web applies to non-woven fabrics

Now you come to mention it under "Warenbahn" I get web, cloth width, cloth length but before I only looked under Bahn which gives width, run or line for textiles and web for non-woven fabric - interesting!!

this term also applies to woven material, especially if you're talking about the manufacturing process

from http://www.thefreedictionary.com/web
web:
a. A woven fabric, especially one on a loom or just removed from it.
b. The structural part of cloth.
