German term

Hin-Bewegung

German to English Tech/Engineering
In a patent relating to a Kolbenpumpe, the terms Hin-und-Her-Bewegung, Hin-Bewegung and Her-Bewegung occur. Hin-und-Her-Bewegung is simple: reciprocating movement. Hin-Bewegung and Her-Bewegung are a little more problematic when discussing the Arbeitstakte.

Can anyone suggest equivalent terms for Hin-Bewegung and Her-Bewegung in terms of the reciprocating movement in a pump stroke sequence?

Thanks very much!

Harold

Non-ProZ.com Dec 27, 2001:
Hin-Bewegung If the pump chamber is "vergrssert" = "increased in its dimension" then the Hin-Bewegung must be a "return stroke" with the "Her-Bewegung" being a "compression stroke" according to the text: "... wobei in einem ersten Arbeitstakt der Kolben durch seine axiale HIN-BEWEGUNG den Pumpenraum VERGRSSERT ..."

to and fro motion

"to and fro" came to mind, and a Google search will yield quite a few hits. See if any of those might be applicable.

3. Diaphragm Pumps: A diaphragm pump works with the to and fro motion of the diaphragm which provides the displacement like a plunger except there are no dynamic seals as the diaphragm just streches in one direction to the other.

The power consists of an engine, a pulley and belt, and the power itself which is an arrangement of gears and eccentrics. The eccentrics provide the "to and fro" motion to the rod lines which are clamped to them and also are connected to the jacks (pumps) on the distant wells causing the jacks to move up and down, thus pumping the well.

If it's a pump it compresses in the hin direction and returns in the her direction. Hope it helps,
