For Ellen I don't know what you googled but my search for "combined arms" yielded over 400,000 hits. Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combined_arms. My answer based not on google hits (which in some cases yield nothing more than previous bad translations) but on 10 years experience on active duty in the US Army, part of which was spent teaching how to write intelligence reports on an enemy's "order of battle", which includes how to write a full unit designation (What's your FUD bud?). :-)
