This term has already been asked as German to Italian:

casting (cast iron) with sand inclusion(s)
what I came up with, according to the sources I found.

Aggressive on all cast materials, even on sand inclusions cast iron
http://www.monad.com/kurt/foundry.page.html
he casting came out very rough with sand inclusion, and very low detail, but that's about all I'd expect from an open mold. I think we still have it around in a box somewhere.

Inclusion(s)
Particles of slag, refractory materials, sand or deoxidation products trapped in the casting during solidification. See Dirty Casting, Solidification.

Reduces sand inclusion in casting

During this year the causes of penetration of cast iron in sand molds were defined and a program which predicts the occurrence of penetration was written and verified in commercial foundries. Calculations were made to size a reaction chamber to remove inclusions from liquid steel using electromagnetic force and the chamber was built.

Comment: "Thanks everyone. I have since had access to the company’s own preferred terminology: ‘sand inclusion’. ‘Penetration’ has its merits but is not quite as specific as a lay reader might wish."

Definitions - not for points
I wouldn't dare offer a translation, Andrew, but these definitions might help you and others.
Vererzung

Penetration, Metal
Condition where molten metal has penetrated into the sand, resulting in a mixture of metal and sand adhering to the casting.

Note from asker:
Thanks, Kim. 'Penetration' sounds promising. I may have to force the points on you unless something more precise turns up. |

mineral casting
vererzer Guss = ghisa minerale

'ghisa minerale' translates as 'mineral casting'

One of the answerers ("anusca") to KudoZ question # 693384 has come up with 'ghisa+metalizzazione'. Taking my cue from that, I googled for "metallised casting" and reached this web reference:
According to another process disclosed by British patent specification No. 854,636 a forming tool is produced by forming a thin skin of metal over the mould surface of a pattern mould by deposition on that surface of a metal, casting an epoxy resin casting composition in the metallised mould, whereby the thin skin of metal becomes adherent to the surface of the casting, and thereafter removing the ***metallised casting*** so produced from the pattern mould.

: Your reference is irrelevant -- from the explanation provided by Kim, it appears that verertzter Guss is a defect, but metallized casting as described here is an intentional result.\\I can't translate Italian, but 'mineralized' would probably be closer.

Possible, Ken. I have already entered a low CL. What do you think of 'mineral casting'? // Thanks, Ken, but googling for "mineralized casting" gives a hit which leaves one wondering...

rough/sand casting
Not my field, of course, hence CL1.
Your context had me thinking "rough casting", for which the very first Google hit (I admit) was this:
"Sand casting is a means of producing rough metal castings using a mold usually made from sand formed around a replica of the object to be cast that is removed once the sand has been compacted"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sand_casting
Add to that the Brockhaus def. of vererzen:
and this:
"Vererzen (sand schmilzt an)"

castings exhibiting veining
Not too sure, but relevant enough to mention IMO. It refers to molten metal penetrating cracks in the mould as a result of thermal expansion of the sand. So quite the opposite of sand inclusions, but giving rise to additional finishing work to get rid of the ridges on the casting.
Something went wrong...
