German term

Verrotation

German to English Medical Medical (general)
Chest X-ray, patient with acute COPD exacerbation:

"Bei heute Verrotation in erster Linie dadurch bedingt der rechte Herzmediastinalrand nach rechts verlegt imponierend, schlanke Cardiomediastinalsilhouette."

Am I totally exhausted and loosing my mind already, or does this NOT make much sense?

The entire sentence is a bit funny. Austrian Befund, of course ( no offense).

Thanks!

Rotation of/rotated image/chest X-ray

*Verrotation/verrotiert* are not German words but sometimes used by radiologists (!) to indicate a geometrical misalignment between the patients positioning related to the direction of the X-ray beam. E.g. if the beam is perpendicular and the patient`s chest is slightly rotated to one side (left or right) this will result as an asymmetrical and *rotated* depiction on the chest X-Ray. *Rotierte/verdrehte Aufnahme* is idiomatic amongst German Radiology folks...

Rotation should be minimal. It can be assessed by comparing the medial ends of the clavicles to the margins of the vertebral body at the same level.

If the patient is very rotated and you do not recognise this, certain appearances may become misleading.
