Discussion

Trudy Peters Sep 11, 2007:
@Paul: Can't co-development apply to cases where three or more people are involved?
Paul Cohen Sep 11, 2007:
@Trudy: You know, I'm not 100% sure, but I'd play it safe and steer clear of co-develop(ment) unless two parties were actually involved. In English, "co-" often implies two. For ex., "co-ed" (co--educational) means that both men and women study together.

Paul Cohen Sep 11, 2007:
Is it just this phrase? Not a complete sentence? If so, I'd put it in the past tense (i.e. "helped develop a medical procedure")

CV/ prospective employer

Should be short and snappy.

Context/readership?

co-development

it usually means that something is developed in a partnership of some sort
Peer comment(s):

neutral Paul Cohen : Well, as they say, it takes two to tango, and in my opinion co-development implies that there were TWO parties involved. For example: "IBM displays computers co-developed with China". I'm not sure if 'co-devleopment' applies here.

aid in the development

Or: "participate in the development"

Or: "contribute to the development"

Or: "play a role in the development"

Etc.

But without more context, it's hard to know.

Since this is for a CV, I'd put it in the past tense:
"helped develop a medical procedure"

You may want to check with the client. If this person's role in the development was important, I'd advise you to write something like this:
"played a key role in the development of a medical procedure"

s.u.

In a CV you can write it this way...

Mitentwicklung eines medizinischen Verfahrens = Co-developer of a medical process

Peer comment(s):

neutral Paul Cohen : Doesn't "co-development" imply that there were TWO parties involved? That's information that we don't have. Perhaps THREE or more parties worked to develop this procedure. We would need more context to be sure. And it's a procedure, not a process.
