German term

Mantelpneumothorax

German to English Medical Medical (general)
according to Roche, this is a 'Pneumothorax in Form eines flachen Luftmantels'. '
'Coat pneumothorax' does have one hit on Google, but I am suspicious....

Steffen Walter Feb 26, 2007:
I've just corrected the glossary entry in the previous question cited.
MMUlr Feb 25, 2007:
You should avoid "mantle p.", see as ref. discussions --> http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1211259
Anne Schulz Feb 25, 2007:
@Brigitte: It does help - ist im Glossary fälschlicherweise unter "Mantelpneumonie" eingetragen (wie kann man so etwas eigentlich korrigieren?), heißt aber "Mantelpneumothorax.
BrigitteHilgner Feb 25, 2007:
This may not help at all - but the expression "mantle pneumothorax" exists.

small pneumothorax

This is the least dangerous form of pneumothorax.

Wikipedia states:
Die Diagnose durch Ultraschall ist eine neuere Methode, schnell, zuverlässig und für einen kleinen Pneumothorax (Mantelpneumothorax) sensibler.

Probably this expression is only used in German, hence only one google hit for coat p.

Well, "mantle p." might be used by some, but "small p." is definitely the widely used expression.
Example sentence:

"In a small pneumothorax, the rim between the lung margin and chest wall is less than two centimeters and there are less than three centimeters from the lung apex to the cupola."

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks Samira and all of you for your prompt replies. I actually preferred 'minor p.' but this had far fewer 'Google' hits than 'small pneumothorax', so I finally went for the latter."
