The accepted German standardisation term appears to be "Tiefungsprüfung", rather than "Tiefungstest" - see Beuth references above. The only bit of confusion that remains is due to the fact that the Erichsen people seem to be mixing up the terminology themselves...

This is the Erichsen test referred to in the examples below.
Example sentence:
The punch is forced onto the clamped sheet with tool contact (lubricated, but with some friction) until cracks occur. The depth (mm) of the punch is measured and gives the Erichsen index 'IE', standardised under DIN 50101.
The ERICHSEN Cupping Depth reached can then be read off on a digital counter.
