German term

VSS

German to English Law/Patents Law (general) Criminal Court Brief
Hello,
This abbreviation is hard for me to decipher. I'll give a few examples of it to help provide the context.
My first guess is that it refers to the Claimant's criminal complaint, but I'm just not sure.

I do not believe this means "voraussichtlich", which is sometimes the long form for the abbreviation VSS.

"Das im VSS beschriebene "Löcherstopfen" bedeutet keinen (neuen) Schaden..."

"VSS der klagenden Partei, Punkt x.y.z" (this occurs several times in the Defendant's attorney brief).

This is for Austrian German.

Any pointers are greatly appreciated.

Timothy Wood (asker) Mar 28, 2017:
Confirmation by client VSS in Austrian German law is "Vorbereitende Schriftsatz" - preparatory written pleadings.
Timothy Wood (asker) Mar 28, 2017:
Good example Yes, I see the example. It is very much like my own document. "Muss ich diesem antrag - bei vorliegen der vss - nachgehen oder kann ich das urteil allein auf 141 zpo begründen?" The term Vorbereitende Schriftsatz does occur in a different section (other than the one I am translating). It just seems a little strange that this would be abbreviated VSS. But I don't know...

Here's another example http://www.juraexamen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=15290
(See paragraph 2)
The V could be Vortrag, which is mentioned a few times in the text.
Timothy Wood (asker) Mar 28, 2017:
How about this? Vorbereitende Schriftsatz?
Timothy Wood (asker) Mar 28, 2017:
Yes Schriftsatz?
philgoddard Mar 28, 2017:
The second S may be Schrift.

vorliegender Schriftsatz / present document

Die Kontextsätze deuten auf einen Schriftsatz, ein Dokument, was warscheinlich hier als "vorliegender" eingestuft werden kann.
Leider kann ich dazu keine Bestätigung auf DE-Google finden.

SS ist eine Abkürzung für Schriftsatz, aber auch für Strafsache. Es könnte also auch (abhängig vom Kontext) als "vorliegende Strafsache" gedeutet werden

Note from asker:
Hi Alexander, Thank you for your contribution. As it turns out, we were able to decipher this in the discussion prior to your entry. The client confirmed "Vorbereitender Schriftsatz".
