German term

nfa

German to English Bus/Financial Law (general)
Einwohnerkontrolle nfa

Meldebestätigung

Dieser Ausweis ist sorgfältig aufzubewahren und ........

This is on a Swiss confirmation of registration of an address in Switzerland. Could 'nfa' mean the English 'no further action' here. It's a strange place to put it if it is. It's just part of the administrative address.

Thanks for letting us know!

So löst sich also das Rätsel auf, danke für die Information! (Und gut, dass du nachgefragt hast.)
Shane London (asker) Aug 19, 2010:
nfa I have received an email reply from the Einwohnerkontrolle as follows: "Dies sind die Initialen der Person, welche die Meldebestätigung bearbeitet hat."

That's one possibility I hadn't considered.
Shane London (asker) Aug 15, 2010:
Thanks for the suggestions. I will just footnote it as 'unknown abbreviation' although 'nachfolgend angegeben/aufgeführt' seems likely. I might just email the Einwohnerkontrolle and ask them.
Alison MacG Aug 13, 2010:
nachfolgen angegeben/nachfolgend aufgeführt ? If they are quoting an address, could it be something like that? nf is certainly a common abbrevation for nachfolgend.
lisa79 Aug 13, 2010:
Angesichts des bisherigen Verlaufs der Diskussion würde ich vorschlagen, beim Kunden nachzufragen, was "nfa" hier bedeutet.
Shane London (asker) Aug 13, 2010:
Lower Case Letters the 'nfa' is in lower case letters. That's why I wondered if it might be 'no further action'.

NFA Neugestaltung des Finanzausgleichs I believe it's to do with this. It's probably a census to establish how much each canton has to pay.

Restructuring/reorganisation of the redistribution of revenue

possibly...

NFA = Neugestaltung des Finanzausgleichs

When someone registers a new address, the figures for the respective canton(s) will change, regarding what they have to contribute, according to the new number of residents.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Cetacea : Switzerland's financial equalization system is based on a canton's financial resources i.e. tax income, and the largest chunk comes from corporations rather than individuals, so the "Einwohnerkontrolle" has nothing to do with this.
