German term

Fernabsatzrecht

German to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
German legislation: Something about selling goods and services remotely or via the Internet.

Is there a set - or better "official" (i.e. used by official German sources) - translation thereof?

Yes indeed they are all English language refs. but this type of selling is "distance selling" in English and the EU which has a directive concerning it, also calls it this, in English.
Note from asker:
With all respect for your impressive resourcefulness, all your references seem to relate to English regulations rather than a translation of the name for the German legislation.
Peer comment(s):

agree John Fenz : or "law on distance selling", or "distance selling directive", or even "remote purchase law". Search Google in conjunction with "Fernabsatzrecht", you will find reputable sources confirming either version.

Thanks but "directive" risks confusion with the EU directive - I think asker's text relates to German domestic law
agree Lancashireman : Also has the merits of not sporting a redundant hyphen (see above).

thanks
agree Paul Skidmore : w/ John "law on distance selling"

(The) Distant Selling Directive 97/7/EG

Note from asker:
That's an EU Directive, not German legislation :-(
Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : There is a EU "Distance Selling Directive" - 97/7/EU but not "distant" - but I cannot see how the Asker's text refers to this

Maybe the emphasis is on "entfernt/fern" and not "Entfernung". I simply went by what the cited book title said. Maybe that's what it is...

Remote-Purchase law

The BGH has now denied the appeal granted to the plaintiff by the court of appeal. According to the provisions of the Fernabsatzrecht [Remote-Purchase Law] (originally a separate law entitled Fernabsatzgesetz, now incorporated into the German Civil Code (BGB) as sections BGB §§ 312 ff.) consumers in the case of purchase contracts with commercial parties that have come about through the exclusive use of remote-communication means have a right to return the article or articles purchased within two weeks.

It is enforced in Germany in the form of the Fernabsatzrecht (Remote-Purchase Law), and includes a 14-day cancellation period and an exception to the rules in the case of auction houses. The UK's equivalent law provides a cancellation period of only seven working days.
