working time
The context is a report from a working group on flexible working arrangements.
It's not a new concept, and it's easy enough to explain, but I'm not aware of and haven't been able to find a straightforward English term (despite spending four of the past six years working in employment rights in the UK). But I'm asking anyway - perhaps someone here has worked on English-language company or trade union documents covering this.
Before somone else points it out, this one has come up on KudoZ before, albeit it some years ago, and there's a brief discussion on LEO as well. Both inconclusive, however.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

trust-based working hours/time
perhaps.
My understanding is that it is freer than flexitime, which often requires that you be present during core hours, which is IMO not necesaarily the case here.
Alternatively, maybe sth. like 'giving staff autonomy over their working hours"

: "trust-based" already seems to be an established translation for this term

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "Sometimes it really is a shame that points cannot be shared. As they cannot, Cilian gets them this time for what I feel is the best solution, at least as far as British English is concerned. Manuela's research and the reference from CMJ_trans were nonetheless helpful and David's suggestion is fine, just less concise than Cilian's.
Something with honour/honor might well work for the US, but it sounds strange to my English ears - and SwissTell's source is the LEO discussion which I referred to in my question."

self-managed flexitime
In 1998, when the people of Bristol asked local libraries to open on Sunday, Bristol City Council decided to reform its outdated flextime system. The Trades Union Congress (TUC), the British equivalent of the AFL-CIO, and the Employers’ Organization worked alongside the Council and local unions to help develop a new library system that met everyone’s needs. A staff survey showed workers were interested in trying different work hours for a variety of reasons including more family time and pursuing further education. A pilot project was introduced allowing libraries to open 7 days a week, with changes in working hours being voluntary. Many part-time staff volunteered to work Sundays for additional hours and full-time staff that volunteered to work Sundays had the ability to change their minds.
The libraries’ flexible work scheme was so popular with staff that other city departments, including pest control and refuse collection, asked to work on self-managed flexible shifts. Services also stayed open to the public for longer hours, while workers had the option of starting early or leaving late without increasing their work hours.

Looking for:
Vertrauensarbeitszeit (de) [econ.]
Example:

: Honor system is the first thing I thought of - something like "billing on an honor system." I don't think English has managed to condense it into just one or 2 words.

independently managed work schedule (based on mutual trust)
or maybe "(independent) work schedule based on mutual trust"
I think the idea of "flexitime" is more to do with having a "clock in/ clock out window" (and doesen't cover the entire time worked)

there is no time recording
Vertrauensarbeitszeit- there is no time recording
I WOULDN´T TRUST THEM". Auf die Erklärung, dass viele Mitarbeiter unbezahlte Ueberstunden machen, aus Angst beschuldigt zu werden nicht genug zu arbeiten, erfolgte ein noch lauteres:"NUTTERS, THEY MUST BE CRAZY". Fazit: Es scheint keine klare englische Übersetzung zu geben. Die beiden u.a. links benutzen:"there is no time recording"
Good luck!!
Since 1996, the Company has had an all-salaried workforce in the United States where time cards are gone and trust and empowerment are in. While Federal and State laws specify which positions are subject to overtime pay, all employees are automatically paid for a full pay period. There is no time recording except for reporting of exceptions such as overtime or time off. This policy demands the highest level of trust among team members and team leaders at Seton.
