German term

Völkerringen

German to English Art/Literary History
"Das große Völkerringen" is a euphemism for World War I (I think). My text is about a piece of music written by Felix Weingartner in 1914, combining the national anthems of Germany, Austria, France and Russia:

Discussion

Bernhard Sulzer Sep 28, 2007:
"clash" means "collision"; "Ringen" implies a back and forth between the nations. Just a note.
