German term
Erwerbsersatzordnung
German to English
Bus/Financial
Finance (general)
I know what it is and how to describe it. What I am looking for is an English term that is equivalent to it. I know it's compensation you receive from the company for prolonged illness, maternity leave, military leave or other situations that require leave from work. I just need a suitable English term.

social security (or SSI)(propably closest in US)
Workmen's compensation (govermental program) is used in US for people who are injured, but not for maternity leave. "Sick pay" (usually from employer) in US does not apply to maternity leave pay (also from employer) nor to disability payments (SSI from Government). "Sick pay" is for short term illness and usually paid by employer; disability is for a longer lasting condition.
