wind energy plants
I would lean towards this for "Windenergieanlagen". "Anlage" is frequently translated as "plant" in a technical context, and certainly, there are some quite good search engine hits for this phrase.

Hmm, a rather interesting result from the Laixicon technical dictionary:
http://www.tecnologix.net/laixicon/
It renders \"Windenergieanlage\" as \"wind energy CONVERTER\".

Just looked up \"Windkraftanlage\" in Laixicon. It offers two suggestions: \"windmill\" (so I suppose you could say \"wind turbine\" in this context) and \"wind energy converter\" again.

What both Eurodicautom and Laixicon show is that \"Windkraftanlage\" and \"Windenergieanlage\" are pretty well synonymous. Both basically mean \"wind turbine\", I think. But if you want to distinguish between them, maybe call one a \"wind turbine\" and the other a \"wind energy converter\" or \"wind engine\" - something like that.

Comment: "I chose to use 'wind energy converter' for 'Windenergieanlage' - acknowledging that it is synonymous with Windkraftanlagen, but nevertheless keeping a distinction."

Wind power plant or system
Both mean the same thing. German 'Energie' is usually translated as 'power' in English. Windenergie is generation of power from wind through turbines.

wind turbines
I translated something like this recently and used 'wind turbines' for both, I think they are just synonyms of each other.
