prägen
German to English

Electric motors
Can anybody help me out with some help as to the best translation for "prägen" in this context. Never having assembled a linear motor I can´t quite visualise if they are hitting, stamping, striking, shaping, ....

Vormontage Polschuh Deckelseite
-Aussenring, Käfig und Kugeln montieren.
Scheibe auf Käfig auflegen und eine Scheibe als Hubbegrenzung in Polschuh einlegen.
** -Polschuh mit prägen. (3 Zacken verkanten) **
-Magnet auf Polschuh montieren.
-Magnet ausrichten.

My best guess so far, for what it´s worth "Strike the pole shoe using (bend 3 lobes)". No further context to describe what the tool looks like.
Thanks for any help. Stephen.

This is what it's saying to me, but I can't round up the references.
Staking - as in using a punch to locally deform a housing (e.g. a bearing housing but in this case a pole shoe hsg) to prevent the part being forced out axially or poss. rotating. You can do this with a hammer and punch (one-off in your garage) or set it up on say a flypress fixture for a production run.
I don't feel there's a marking process going on - there's a blank, so to speak, for the tool number to be filled in in your procedure later (i.e. use tool no. nnn for this op.)
I stand to be corrected of course -

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "Thanks for the help. Sorry for the delay in replying, I was waiting for feedback from the customer, which never came! I am pretty sure that this has nothing to do with stamping, so this answer seemed to fit best. I only awarded 3 points because I still can´t be 100 % sure this is correct, but seems pretty good."
