Hi Phil, It is a Daimler text about their interior control systems in their vehicles.
HFS = Heckdeckelfernschließung and ARWT is a system -> Steuergerät Heckklappenschliessung für Antriebsmitnehmer.

Also, you've said "activation", which is one possible translation.
