Dear colleagues,

How would you translate the name of a painting "Flusslandschaft mit Bootsstaffage, am Ufer Burgansicht "?
My try is: "River Landscape with Boats and Fortress", but something is clearly missing.

I would be grateful for any better idea :-)

I meant also to say that they also appear to use 'riverscape', too but for me that sounds more limited in scope.

But as I said, I have no particular problem with "river landscape".

Colin Since this is likely to be an Old Master painting, it is probably best to go with convention on this one - landscape being a set genre.

"river landscape" v. "riverscape" Both google heavily, although I have to admit the former does outnumber the latter. As far as US v. UK usage is concerned, I have no idea. I personally am from the UK. I have nothing against "river landscape", but found "riverscape" (by analogy with "cityscape", "seascape", "GreatEscape" (sorry!)) more succinct, particularly given the already rather long title of the painting.

I would also suggest 'River landscape' rather than "riverscape.' Or even 'landscape with river and boats with view of castle/fortress'.

I would not call "riverscape" US usage. I think that in paintings and so on, it is common to refer to a "river scene".

riverscape You've closed with a solution (so fast - cn understand, but ProZ practice of leaving open 24 hrs, for debate/variations?) - riverscape makes sense in line with cloudscape, townsc.,, seasc. - but I hadn't encountered it.
