"branche charpentière" indica una biforcazione del tronco (vedi link sotto). Non so se esiste un termine equivalente in italiano, ma le biforcazioni in genere sono chiamate "branche": "primarie" o "principali" se la biforcazione nasce dal tronco, "secondarie" se la biforcazione nasce da una biforcazione primaria
