Et vos projets prennent forme !

French to English Marketing Retail
Same comments as my question before. I've translated this as "And your projects take shape!" but the client doesn't like it and wants something more "marketing" - I really don't know what to suggest so I'm asking my peers....can you think of a more "marketing" translation?

Discussion

kashew Apr 24, 2009:
Projects As polyglot says - in French, project is overused, and often abused, like plateforme, mythique and many others
polyglot45 Apr 24, 2009:
problem with the word "projects" the French often use the word "projets" where we would normally not. Frankly, given the text that follows, the word worries me in English
Bourth (X) Apr 24, 2009:
I can understand yoyur client's disappointment over your other question, with the play on words, but I frankly don't see what the problem is here. To boot, with "form" you have a play on words the French doesn't (formulaire). But I'll float a few ideas to jazz it up if I can.
Rebecca Lowery (asker) Apr 24, 2009:
text that follows it is Vous souhaitez réaliser des cartons d’invitation et des menus pour vos soirées, imprimer un plan d’accès, un rapport ou une plaquette de présentation de votre entreprise, de votre club ou association...
polyglot45 Apr 24, 2009:
again more context would help the phrase in isolation is not enough - what precedes it for example?
Rebecca Lowery (asker) Apr 24, 2009:
Thanks Terry The client's complaints have really stumped me!
Terry Richards Apr 24, 2009:
That's what I would have said In fact, it was the translation I had in mind when I opened your question.

And your projects will take off/ hit the sky / fly high

Especially if accompanied by a graphic with a paper plane!

Eureka! (after all, these did come to mind while I was in the bath):

- the paper that will give more punch to your projects (paper punch, groan ...)

- the stationery with get up and go / that will get your projects going (stationery/stationary), possibly with a bloke in a tie placing an origami boat in river, and beside him a notice reading "Call for Tenders for Construction of Ocean-Going Liner"

Anybody know of an advertising agency looking for an ideas man?
Peer comment(s):

agree Hermien Desaivre : OK, we are getting into the swing of things here - the paper plane idea is really cute :-)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks again to everyone for your suggestions. Again it was really hard for me to select an answer but I had to award the points to Bourth for creativity. I didn't get the graphics (asked to no avail!) but Bourth, I think you'd be a great asset to an advertising company!"

Just a suggestion! Hope it helps.

take your projects from paper to real life

The mistake you are making (or your customer is making) is to insist on a translation. If you can draft it directly in English addressing the English speakers. You can build in as many puns and alliterations as you like and charge extra for copywriting. No reader is going to compare the English and French versions so the accuracy of translation does not matter
Peer comment(s):

agree Hermien Desaivre : Very true

agree Transitwrite : sounds very good to me within the given context. Well done.

agree Bourth (X) : "...come (vibrantly) to life" is what I was about to say

Make sure your projects are in perfect form!

If you HAVE to use form, then this is a well used idiom.

Make sure your projects look good on paper too!

Just playing around - as Shankaran correctly says, this is more a copywriting job than a translation, and your client should really give you credit for it.

and your projects come alive

With little context about what kind of project/sales programme I could suggest this ...

no this doesn't work any more, the context was necessary after all.
Peer comment(s):

agree Bourth (X) : "...come (vibrantly) to life" is what I was about to say. For me it works, esp. re. parties, meals, etc. which you want to be made as lively and exciting as poss by using "sexy" paper ;-) (seriously!)

thanks but I'm not sure anymore because of the context.

Projects materialize

*take shape is a more literal trans.
Or, "projects are buzzing!" for a trendy phrase.
