French term (edited):
orme de segment torse
Selected
twisted segment/cross-section shape
torse: see Discussion, thanks Emmanuella.
So: has a twisted segment/cross-section shape
The word "segment", from memory, sometimes translates as "cross-section', which seems a better fit here, but I can't confirm that with references.
Posting on behalf of Emmanuella, really. Might as well get an entry in the glossary for this pitfall, which is new to me after learning French for 32 years.

On second thoughts, a twisted segment shape doesn't make sense to me (a segment of what?), but anyway, that's what the text seems to be saying...

: I don't think 'cross-section' works here — you're not getting muddled with 'section', are you?

Fair enough. Yes, section, thanks! No wonder I couldn't find a reference.

linearly twisted shape
I'm working on the assumption that 'segment' here means 'line segment', and thus a line, hence 'linear'.
