"S." appears throughout the whole list before advice on how to take the medication, there are just a few examples.

May be, it stands for " Signature" , i.e

the part of a drug prescription that gives directions to be followed by the patient in taking the medicine.

It actually means SIGNA = instruction for use

agree Michael Barnett : Exactly. In the old days, when we still wrote prescriptions by hand, we would write “Sig” followed by the instructions for use. (Latin for instructions.)
