French term

trépied jambier

French to English Medical Medical (general) Endarterectomy
I am struggling to find a suitable translation of the "trépied jambier" in the following sentence:

"Au doppler, bonnes vélocités jusque sur les poplitées, trois bons axes sur chaque trépied jambier".

As things stand, I have the following translation: "On Doppler ultrasound: good velocities as far as the popliteals and three good axes on each leg bifurcation", but I have also seen "trépied jambier" translated as "tripod tibial muscle".

Grateful for any assistance from medical specialists, please!

Discussion

Elizabeth Ballance (asker) Feb 17, 2012:
Thank you SJLD. I should clarify that I understand what "trépied fémoral" means, but not what "trépied jambier" means...I was not sure if it meant femoral or not...
SJLD Feb 17, 2012:
jambier = calf (infrapopliteal) so it can't be the femoral thang
Elizabeth Ballance (asker) Feb 17, 2012:
Does this refer to the femoral trigone?

The popliteal artery extends across the lower third of the thigh and the upper third of the calf. It is situated quite deeply in the leg behind the knee. The popliteal artery is a continuation of the superficial femoral artery in the thigh and below the knee divides into the anterior tibial artery and tibioperoneal trunk which further divides into the posterior tibial and peroneal arteries. The anterior tibial, posterior tibial and peroneal arteries supply arterial blood to the calf and foot.

So your "trépied" = ant. tibial, post. tibial and fibular (peroneal) arteries

Not sure I'd say "good axes" - what they mean is there is good flow in the three vessels.
