French term

notification de redressement fiscal

French to English Bus/Financial Law: Taxation & Customs statutory auditors' report
I am familiar with the Kudoz glossary definitions for "redressement judiciare", and I saw "tax adjustment" in the GDT for "redressement fiscal", but I am not sure if that is appropriate here. This is from a statutory auditors' report:

Une notification de redressement fiscal a été reçue par la société le 29 juillet 2005. Cet élément n'a pas été pris en compte pour l'établissement des comptes annuels arrêtés au 31 mars 2005.

Is anyone familiar with this term? Thank you!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you Calou and Buzzy! Both were good answers, but I decided to use "adjustment" because this is for a UK company."

tax reassessment notice

An alternative to "tax adjustment" - possibly "reassessment" is Brit-specific? I'm not sure.
In other words there's been a tax inspection and the inspectors have detected some tax that should have been paid and will have to be paid but the accounts neither record the expense or any related provision.

agree Andre de Vries : makes it very clear

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : Agree that "adjustment" spot on for Britain but you are right that for other contexts, something a little more explanatory might be better. NB Not necessary to have an inspection, it is enough to declare an item beyond a due date for ex.!

thanks Nikki, although actually I thought "reassessment" was the more British sounding term!
