French term
concordance de nom
French to English
Law/Patents
Law (general)
adoption/family law
follow up to my query on "recueil legal" - apparently means that the "adopted" child can take the same name as the parent, but not sure what the correct technical term would be in English.

use of name
Without a sentence it is difficult to suggest an equivalent.
Bear in mind, though, that the translation should be relevent to the country you are translating for.
In Britain, for example, a child can decide to use a step-parent's surname without any legal procedures, whereas in France it is virtually impossible to change a surname legally (except in the case of an "adoption plénière).

OK. You could try something like:
\"1992: Legal recognition of the use of guardians\' names by abandoned children cared for under the Kafala law.\"
especially if you have explained Kafala in a previous paragraph. Hope this helps :-)

to take the foster parent's name
why don't you post the sentence? I don't think there is a term per se in English
