The phrase as asked was simply "délai de comparution" buth the correct UK English (as used in the Courts in England and Wales) would be "to abridge the time limit..etc"
However asker has chosen the other response which says "date of appearance" which is misleading: "entering appearance" does not mean attending at Court per se, but filing a reply to the proceedings

| thanks for your additional note. You seem to be speaking from experience, but there are one or two problems: firstly, the dictionaries I have looked at (GDT and Navarre Dictionnaire Economique et Juridique) simply put "appearance" or "appear before a court" etc. for "comparution" and "comparaître". In the Proz archives one finds "representation" but the context is not right. Secondly, and there is no way you could know this, the document in question concerns a party which appeared in court but said that some of the documents had not been translated into English, so sought an adjournment for this reason, which the other party is now trying to shorten. So, to me, it does not seem like a situation where a filing of a reply to the proceedings is involved… I think it is simply about when the parties are to appear again before the court. As for my failure to mention "abréger" in the actual headline wording of my question, yes, I should have been more explict… but I was clearer in the non-headline bit. |
