You've could even get away with "intellectual fun", but I wouldn't prefer it.
It only makes sense here that this comparison would only be done to satisfy intellectual curiosities.
Absolutely no reason why "intellectual entertainment" would not fit beautifully into a legal document such as this ("fun" wouldn't work in a legal document such as this).

No, I am not. It's simply "for the sake of intellectual entertainment." To say "intellectual exercise" is to ignore the importance of the "entertainment" aspect of this "intellectual exercise." That just can't be done.
