There does exist an on-line translation of the major French legal codes: www.legifrance.gouv.fr. They have it as 'stipulate for the benefit of a third party', but Jane's suggestion is actually more accurate.

sorry -- here's more context this is my first time posting, sorry for not giving enough context. Here is the sentence -- it's part of the Interpretation section of the contract:

tout engagement pris par X (le promettant), � l��gard du Y (le stipulant), d�ex�cuter une obligation d�termin�e au profit de Z (les tiers b�n�ficiaires), doit s�interpr�ter comme une stipulation pour autrui au sens de l�article 1121 du Code civil, d�ment accept�e par les tiers b�n�ficiaires par acte s�par�.
