French term
clés bloquants
French to English
Tech/Engineering
IT (Information Technology)
system features
"le système de gestion xxxxxxxxxx comprend des modules de calculs et des contrôles automatiques clés bloquants"
Well, presumably this means that when certain things are asked of the system, it refuses to allow them and suspends processing of the transaction in progress.
Do any of you IT oriented people have an idea of how this is expressed in English. Many thanks.

wrong question
its UNE clé, therefore if bloquants was qualifying clés, it would be bloquantEs.
What you have here are contrôles which are simultaneously:
automatic and
key and
"bloquant" (helpful, huh?)
"controle bloquant" is not a common term. As I pointed out here - http://www.proz.com/kudoz/681770 - it just means a check that halts further progress. The translation is, IMHO, highly context-dependent. Crucial, critical, restrictive, limiting, fatal, error-generating, even blocking are all possibilities. I have been looking for a "one size fits all" translation for "bloquant" for years and haven't found it yet. So even if your question is 'wrong', your answer is right.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "Many thanks as ever Charlie - yes I should have put all 4 words in the title to avoid confusion. Will probably go with ...automated critical stop controls. BTW, not sure about our app. "understanding" calculation modules?!"

: agree with blocking key but I would say ... includes modules of calculations and automatic blocking key controls.

semaphores
I think it means
The xxxx [system] controller knows the processing rules and automatically synchorises these with semaphores.
System may be redundant in the above.
I'd need to see more context to be sure about this...
