look for company
When you post your original, it is generally helpful to post the full French version as it helps us get an idea of the mood and tone. If you have a translated version or suggestion then that help too as it enables us to latch on to your style. Mixing the two can sometimes be a little odd to read 8-).
Back to the question. "Rechercher la société" is used to describe a situation where someone is looking for company of others. A Google search with the expression in inverted commas got me this result, from which the meaning can be deduced (cf. second meaning), in spite of this being about "paisible".
http://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/paisible
Qui est doux et pacifique.
Rechercher la société des gens paisibles.
(Par extension) caractère, humeur paisible.
Le mouton est un animal paisible.

2. (littéraire) [présence] company, society
rechercher la société de quelqu'un to seek (out) somebody's company

Don't know if you knew about the inverted commas thing for searches by the way but it is extremely useful. Google spat a couple of suggestions out within seconds.

: That's funny, I thought I'd posted the very same words last night! Your mouton reference made me think of my proposal below, however.

gregarious
is something of a fad word at the moment.
gregarious 1 Living in herds or flocks 2 fond of the company of others; sociable 3 having to do with a herd, flock, or crowd.
[Websters]
For me the word has always had meanings 1 and 3. I'm still not comfortable with people being described as "gregarious" - I tend to see them moving in herds and eating grass whenever the word crops up for people.
