French term

filet de perotte (?)

French to English Other Food & Drink
In a French menu, of otherwise fairly standard items, is the following:

Filet de perotte et ses légumes.

The text was sent by fax and is not totally clear, perotte may not be the exact spelling. Or it may be a typo. I can't find any mention on the internet or in my various culinary dictionaries of 'perotte' or guessed variations such as 'perotto', porrotto', etc.

Anyone able to help?

perch without an \'e\' ofcourse, just a typing error...
Peer comment(s):

neutral Richard Benham : No "e" on "perch" in English.//I wanted to prevent propagation of the mistake. I agree that it's one possible reconstruction of the text, but any reconstruction is going to be a long shot.

just a typing error, when you're used to type in French... I thought peer grading concerned the answer, like "agree but perch is written without an 'e'" - do you agree abt the answer, or not ?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Having ust heard back from the client, it was in fact a major typo - 'perotte' (no such word of course) instead of... 'perche'. Full marks to Elisabeth Toda-v. Galen for great detective work, even clairvoyance. Thanks as always to all other contributors."

cf infra. - déchard

l'éthymologie semble être "à côté" "oreille" (comme dans otorhino ou otarie....)

donc peut être la "joue" ou un autre morceau près des oreilles...

neutral Richard Benham : Bonjour Michel. It seems very far-fetched to me.//Côté santé OK. Côté travail : n’y en a pas !
