French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Financial markets - trading - securities
Recours, par le Rates Desk, a des instruments financiers (CMS, inflation notes) non-autorises par le dossier d'agrement de la societe de gestion;

(Please excuse the lack of French accents.... had to reproduce from a pdf)

This taken from a document showing a series of problems encountered by a financial markets trading management system - and the solutions it proposes.

I know this is to do with Risk Analysis/Risk Management, but am wondering if there is a standard translation for 'contre-valorisation' in this context?

Discussion

Andrew Bruch Mar 3, 2012:
internal vs. independent valuation I just came up against this term and described the process to a person well-acquainted with hedge funds. He suggested that if the valuation was performed strictly in-house then it would be termed an "internal valuation" if the firm occasionally outsourced it, then it might be an "independent valuation" though usually the two are used together (the independent valuation compared against the internal valuation).

counter-valuation

Maybe it's just as simple as a direct translation? I'm not sure, but it seems like counter-valuation is used...
Example sentence:

I think the SNB have taken the appropriate measures on its Swiss Franc to counter valuation of being appreciated, and thank cold turkie for saying the proper ranking of the valuation of the changes on others.

Bajaj Auto has decided to submit a 'counter valuation' to strengthen its case in the long-drawn tussle with the Maharashtra government over the strategic sale of Maharashtra Scooters, the joint venture between Bajaj Auto and Western Maharashtra Developmen

Note from asker:
Funnily enough, before posting the question I googled this very term to see what would come up - and after so doing, still had my doubts about it in this context. Interesting that two people are now suggesting the same thing - although I am still struggling to find much reference to the term in relation to Risk Management matters - although I don't doubt rkillings's wisdom.... hmmmm!
Peer comment(s):

agree rkillings : The term has other meanings in mathematics and logic, but it has been appropriated in risk management (as part of 'mark to model' valuation). The hyphen is optional and often omitted.
