This is simply a label on a map-diagram pointing to the soil underneath a basin where some plants grow. I've looked in Oxford and my Petit Robert and no entry is given. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think it could be a typo for "roselière", which sounds like it could make sense in your context. When I Googled "rosetière", one of my hits was this (see page 2, fourth line down):

When I looked at the text of that link carefully, I saw that it actually reads "roseLière", which Termium translates as "reed marsh".

Just an idea, but I reckon we could be dealing with a typo here. If you do a google search for 'rosetière', the handful of results turn up with documents that actually seem to be talking about a 'roselière' (reed bed).
