Sur le haut de la batterie se trouve un détrompeur (bout plastique noir d’environ 1 cm de haut).
Assurez-vous que ce dernier soit toujours présent (il ne faut pas le casser pour insérer la batterie
dans l’appareil, mais bien le glisser dans la fente prévue à cet effet). Si le détrompeur est cassé, ne
surtout pas insérer la batterie dans l’appareil !
I know it has been asked before but I haven't found a previous response that describes what it is in this context.

Sometimes referred to as a "guide pin" in mechanical contexts. Here it is more of a safety device to avoid connecting the battery the wrong way round, so "safety peg" might work too.

: From the description provided, it doesn't sound like it is the actual connector that is polarized, but some sort of external 'bump' / 'Fraid not, J: it's the 'connector' bit I'm worried about; most batteries just have sort of 'pads', not a real connector
