French term

vis plombable

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng
Manual describing technical operation of a hygrostat:
"Le boîtier reçoit un capot fixé par encliquetage et par une vis plomblable." (I think the source term must be "plombable". )

Maybe it's "sealing screw"?

I'd like confirmation or otherwise please.
Proposed translations (English)

Discussion

It used to be a lead seal.... but of course lead is now unwelcome in the environment. Since then they have figure out that a dab of paint which cracks if tampered with was just as efficient.
chris collister Jan 22, 2010:
yes, plombably.... Since hygrostats are tricky things to set up, you don't want anybody mucking up the settings. Hence the adjusting screw would be sealed (though not with lead) using a highly visible paint or anaerobic polymer sealant.

sealable screw

I belive it's a screw that allows you to put a wire through it. The wire passes through a lead seal which is stamped and makes it impossible to remove the wire without destryoing the seal. It an anti-tampering device.
