French term

colsonnage

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng cabling

Yes that's it Tony. It's a cable tie.
Tony M Dec 1, 2006:
Mark, I haven't got time now to check it out, but I believe you'll find this refers to the action of attaching the cables using a proprietary product known as a 'Colson' (this might be a cable clip, or a cable tie, for example, cf. rylsan)

In that case, Mark, I would suggest you do NOT use the proprietary name (unlikely to be well-known to the target readership), nor to use the EN equivalent (Tywrap®, for example), but rather to go for something neutral like 'attachment'; you can't really say 'cable-tying', though I suppose you could say 'attachment (using cable ties)'

After all, the key point is that they should be securely attached so they can't fall down!
