parcours diplômant

French to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy Aid projects
Farmers' innovations again!
Les moteurs des acteurs à rentrer dans ce processus sont: la reconnaissance (notoriété), la mise en pratique de « farmers’rights » et la valorisation des acquis de l’expérience (VAE) traduite par un *parcours diplômant*.
Does this mean that any innovation attributed to a certain farmer/group of farmers which was subsequently approved/implemented on a wider scale, would be credited to a certain person/group of people via the award of a diploma, or have I got it completely wrong?

Validation des acquis de l'expérience Hello

Here is an example. You work as a successful hairdresser for 10 years but you don't have the diploma. You can then get it by going in front of a VAE committee who will question you and I think he have to write a paper too for them. But my point is that there is no 'course'. The VAE diploma is based on work experience as Lorraine B said.

experience-based diploma i have seen a lot of 'experience-based' diplomas/degrees on the Internet and am wondering if this would be something similar - recognising farmers' knowledge by giving them such a diploma?

Peer comment(s):

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : Yes, the French tend to make a clear distinction between a "parcours diplômant" and "parcours qualifiant". They also talk of "diplôme qualifiant". Once the word "qualifiant" is in there, it means that the diplôma qualifies you for a specific rôle.

merci
agree MatthewLaSon : Imho, "parcours diplômant" = path leading to a diploma = diploma course

thanks
disagree SafeTex : There is no course as it is a VAE (see my comments)

neutral Lara Barnett : This describes a course which ends in a diploma award. I am not sure if that is exactly what this is.

diploma program

Hello,

That's how I read it. It's a program for you to get a diploma (path to diploma). You could also say "diploma course", imho.

I hope this helps.

It's a VAE diploma program, unless I'm widly mistaken here.

course = program (in British English, I believe).

Thank you, gallagy2! I appreciate it. I think "program(me)" is best. But "course" could mean "program(me) course.
