French term

Bail type ancien forum

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Lease agreement
Good morning/afternoon,

I've finished this long lease agreement document and the agency came back to me with an inquiry about the above term which appears in the 'watermark' or background of every page.
I personally am not sure that it needs to be translated but will send him/them something just in case.

Thanks for your input.

Bon weekend,

Richard

"...Forum" Good afternoon Fourth,

In actuality, Forum is part of the formal name of one of their leaseable properties.
Richard Levy (X) (asker) Feb 13, 2011:
Hi Marco,

Sorry I've been out all day. No, it is in France.
Marco Solinas Feb 12, 2011:
Montreal? Is the lease in Montreal?

Standard lease - ancien forum/Old Forum

Yes, at least the first two words should definitely be translated as the meaning is important and needs to be communicated just as it would be if it were a heading.

If it is Montreal, then the place name should also be translated unless there is a specific reason for not doing so.

"Former Forum" is a really bad alliteration. Avoid!
Note from asker:
Hello Barbara,. It's in Paris and or Lyon. I had wondered about 'Former Forum' due to the placement of 'ancien. 'Thanks for your suggestions.

Jurisdiction
Is there any room for a "previous jurisdiction"? (Bridge p 138)

Well, given the definition of "forum" as "court", jurisdiction", perhaps it might be worth thinking of that. Not having come across it, I don't know

Hello Fourth. Thanks for your help. I'm not sure I follow your point there. All I know is what the agent told me what appears on the baclground of each page.
