French term

charge métallique brillant

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering resin countertops for bathrooms
This is a type of moulded gloss resin inset basin for bathrooms. The term occurs in a price list. The other option in this category is simply gloss resin. The only colour option is white. I'm not having any luck googling anything with "metal" or "metallic" in this relation, or even consulting lists of this type of basin. Could it be metal fleck? I'm hoping somebody may be able to help me out. Many thanks in advance.

Discussion

Susan Nicholls (asker) Mar 28, 2010:
Yes, a metal effect created by adding the metal powder to the resin, but if the sink is white it is hard to imagine. Still can't understand why I can't locate a sink made of this stuff.
Bourth (X) Mar 28, 2010:
My subsequent refs below suggest that it might be faux métal.
Susan Nicholls (asker) Mar 28, 2010:
or perhaps the filler is used for sparkle effect as you say BD - in any case the colour listed is white, and the price is double the normal (seems a lot of money just for glitter!). Don't think it can be primer used on a resin basin. I might go for something non-commital like shiny metallic resin... Thank you for your help.
Susan Nicholls (asker) Mar 28, 2010:
Could it be cold cast metal resin or faux-metal do you think, Bourth?

shiny metal filler

Guesswork so far, but charge in this sort of context is "filler", something that "bulks" out the product (even if that is not the (only) purpose here).

Quite possibly metal powder, though depending on particle size I'm not sure this would be shiny.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks Bourth, I'm choosing this answer because it helped me understand what the stuff is - but I'm not going to call it filler, since to my mind it suggests cracks in the porcelain... Think I'll go for gloss metallic resin."

Note from asker:
You might be right BD, I'm just not a hundred percent sure (what if the object isn't glittery?) I liked the "metallic flecked, white gloss" description of the worktop (I just wish it were describing a moulded resin basin!). Thank you for your suggestions.
