This year's notable non-competing fillms

Just a more natural way of saying it
Peer comment(s):

agree Sheila Wilson : Sounds the most natural to me

neutral Helen Shiner : I would prefer to say it this way, too, but it does seem that 'out-of-competition' is very widely used, even if it is a hideous expression.

agree B D Finch : Let's do our bit to put down "hideous" expressions!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I think this answer and 'outstanding non-competing movies' from Jean-Jacques Alexandre were the most natural. In the end I opted for 'the non-competition films which were nevertheless highlights of the year', but I think your version is perhaps better. Thanks!"

non competing films that ear marked the year

Peer comment(s):

disagree B D Finch : Not only are there no ears in the original but, even if the required hyphens were inserted, this doesn't sound right in English.
