there is a phrase frequently appearing in a patent spec. I'm trying to find a more chemically appropriate translation for this. Context... "Composition suivant 1 and 2 dans laquelle le composé finement divisé utilisé comme liant est de l'amidon de pomme de terre..."

I think we do indeed talk about 'finely divided' in scientific/technical contexts — albeit more usually associated with another word like 'particles', for example.
