When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Customer research
I think between us we got there in the end. I don't think its 'dialogue' as it can be more abstract i.e. analysing data. Of course, i may be wrong..... but I have to make a decision and my instinct says 'research'. Thank you for your time |
Customer service / customer focus

: Customer service it ain't - that's "service après-vente" or "service clients". 'focus' is a bit woolly and meaningless. How about 'dialogue with customer'?

Customer feedback

I've not heard of customer listening either. It sounds a bit strange. Maybe customer/client monitoring/research or market research if thet are looking at what the customers actually want.
Yes Georgia, that's what I would have guessed but isn't that usually 'retour d'experience'? I have come accross ecoute client before and there's more to it than just feedback, I think it also involves credit checks, research on what the customer is looking for, etc. So I really need a term that embraces all of that. Am I expecting too much?! |
I've just found the term 'Customer listening' on the web, so I suppose that's what is used. I've not personnaly heard it used, have you? |
I think your suggestion of 'customer research' covers it quite well. It's listening to what the customer wants and researching the customer base to match product to demand (I think!). If you want to submit it as an answer, I'll grade it and enter it in the glossary. |

: I imagine it to be more about the companys' ability to listen rather than the client ability to provide feedback. I'm not sure that it work this way round
